| The Mouvement Juif Libéral de France
(MJLF), founded in 1977, is one of the largest and most dynamic synagogues
in France. The 1500-family Liberal congregation in Paris has a staff
of three rabbis ( two of whom are fluent in English) and two community
centers: the main branch is located in the 15th arrondissement and
a new center has just opened in the 20th arrondissement. |
Since its inception, the MJLF has been a leader in inter-faith dialogue. In 1990, it became the first synagogue in France to observe a religious commemoration of the Shoah on the 27th of Nisan. Each year hundreds gather to hear the reading of the names of Jews deported from France at the former site of the Velodrome d'Hiver located less than a mile from the community center in the 15th arr. We are happy to announce the creation of a new Anglophone Havurah which has organized this past year several events, a kosher Thanksgiving dinner, a Hannukah service, a Tu B’Shvat Seder and a Shabbat dinner.
